Saint2 First Time Use
These instructions are to make it easy for a first time user
to work with the Saint2 right out of the box.
- Installing the Saint2 PC software
- Download
the Saint2Installer from the Saint2 support webpage
- Run
the installation package which will install several applications
(discussed later) to the default location of C:\Program Files\Saint Bus

- Plug Saint2 unit into PC via the USB cable (or Serial Cable)
- The PC will then pop-up a message box saying a new Saint2 device needs a driver. At this point the user will need to navigate to the folder where the USB driver was installed above and locate the ftd2xx.inf file. Windows will then associate the driver with the Saint2 unit.
- Open Saint Bus Engine 2 (SBE2) via a desktop shortcut or through the location that it was installed. Once this application has been opened all the Saint2 units that are plugged into the machine should show up in the SBE2 window with each device listed as FTDIXX where XX is a number like 34 or 50.
- Updating Saint2 Firmware
- The Saint2 unit that comes out of the box has a basic firmware set that every unit has coming off the manufacturing line. To get all up to date features make sure to download the product software off the Alliance Group webpage and unzip it to an appropriate location.
- Start the Saint Bus Engine 2 and double click the status column of the device you want to update. It needs to say, "Open".
- Go to the ReFlash menu on the Saint Bus Engine 2 and choose Saint2, which will open up the Saint2Flash application.
- Click the "Load Hex" button on the Saint2Flash program and navigate to the software you downloaded earlier in this section.
- After the software has been loaded, click the program button. This will pop-up a dialog box asking for a pass code. This pass code should be provided at time of purchase. Enter the pass code and click okay. The Saint2Flash application will then program the Saint2 with the latest software.
- Using the Saint Monitor application
- This application is made to use in monitoring serial bus communications with the Saint2 unit
- This application can be accessed via the Plug-ins menu on the Saint Bus Engine 2
